How to Choose VOIP Service

Technology is advancing at such a rate that the technology companies and other project-included companies are coming up with new ideas by the hour and putting them towards business use.  VOIP is no big exception here if you think it is.  VOIP once was an idea that was brought up by someone and then it was implemented.  Is VOIP service right for you?  If it were, how would you choose the service?

Firstly, you should ask yourself why you want VOIP service.  Is it because you heard it from other customers that are already using VOIP and have gotten good feedback on it, or is it because it’s a cost reducing solution to many businesses, or you just want to use it for personal use?

I did a survey back in 2007 about why people used VOIP service and you would not believe the results.  This is what I asked people on and the percentage of people that chose the answer they did:

I surveyed about 100 people and these were the results;

-       38 People: Business Usage

-       10 People: Personal/Family Usage

-       40 People: Saving Money

-       12 People: Getting Free Long distance calls

As you can tell, many people either use it for business purposes or either trying to save money.  I honestly don’t blame the people that are trying to save money.  Look where the economy of America is.  It is down in the dumps at the moment.  People are losing their jobs left and right (Current Un-Employment rate is 9.7% as of 10/10/2009), and are trying to save money for food, shelter and what not.

Second thing I would like to inform you on is you should ALWAYS do some extensive research before making a final decision on which provider you are going to do with.  There is so much competition out there that VOIP businesses will do pretty much anything to get your money.  I have seen VOIP networks being flooded with people and overloaded and that is some bad experience, but that is very rare, yet I have seen it though.

You should do some research, ask around for VOIP providers, ask them LOTS and LOTS of questions, get the questions that you may have off your chest, ask specific details, specials and what not.  Remember, you are SPENDING money here, might as well make it worth while.
